Junge, Du bist ein ARSCHLOCH!! (Teil 2)

Several months ago, I started writing music video treatments for acclaimed director John Tucker aka “Dr. Teeth”. He is known for his ground-breaking producing work at BET and for directing several music videos for artists such as Lupe Fiasco, Ludacris, T.I., Lil’ Wayne, Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Mike Jones, and many more.

One of our first projects together was a video for a new Dallas rapper on the scene, Dorrough. The song was “Ice Cream Paint Job”. Writing the video for Dr. Teeth was a pleasure and we created something we thought would be a different and fitting video for this new style Dorrough was bringing to the genre of music. When the video first hit MTV and BET, it was received with much enthusiasm and support, and steadily grew to a massive fan following of both the artist and our video.

Apparently it is so, because a few days ago I received word that the video was nominated for Best Hip Hop Video at the BET Hip Hop Awards 2009 that is taking place in Atlanta, GA on Oct. 27 later this year. I almost fell out of my chair when I heard the news. A video I wrote, nominated on a national awards show! I couldn’t believe it. Not only is the video nominated, it is going up against videos by Eminem, T.I., Jay-Z, and Kid Cudi. Some of the competing videos were directed by some of my favorite directors that I look up to and follow. That in itself is a mind-trip!

I can’t wait till the end of October comes around, because it looks like I’ll be flying over to ATL for the show! It’ll be a new experience for me. The next level! And of course, I’ll be taking you along for the ride.

I would like to thank all of you for your continuing support in my creative endeavors and for all the love I’ve received from my family, friends, and (I can finally begin to say this) fans of my work.

Måndag

Hellu,

Listen to it @ Spotify!

I övrigt så deltog jag i min sjunde jäkla Voddler invite-tävling idag och fick ändå ingen invite.. Jag kämpar vidare. Min motivering i dagens tävling löd så här;

“Okey, since the blogpost is in english I will take this in the same language. As a lot of other visitors of this blog I am a person who loves movies. Since I’m a student buying movies reguraly is an expensive habit. Now I’m not saying that i download movies, because I don’t, but there’s alot of other students over the world who would rather put their money on other stuff than movies and instead of buying the movies they download it illegally from the web. If I would to get an invite I could show my friends a better alternative of wathching good movies and I won’t be having to chase for an invite almost everyday on the web nor having to put my money on bad movies since I would know which ones are worth buying.

Regards,
Dylan”

Hehe.

Mews - 9/24/09

Interesting music news this week…

- This Is It, the documentary of the prep/rehearsals for the late Michael Jackson’s London concert series, will be hitting theaters on October 28.  You can view the trailer here.  A double-disc soundtrack for the film will be released on October 27, and will contain a previously unreleased MJ single also called “This Is It.”  Billboard

- NYC’s Knitting Factory Records is set to release the full 45-album catalog of Nigerian Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti for the first time ever in North America.  Kuti was the main influence in African political liberation art, and his music has always been difficult to find in the US.  The release also coincides with the Broadway debut of a Jay-Z and Will Smith funded musical about Kuti’s life and art.  Pitchfork

- Kids Company, a London charity for convicted minors and “disadvantaged youth,” just received a donation to the tune of 1.5 million dollars from Coldplay.  The band was apparently very moved by the efforts of the organization and stories of their impact.  The band members have even agreed to give music lessons to the Kids Company children.  Regardless of how you feel about Coldplay’s music, you have to dig the walking and not just talking.  NME

- The word is that Justin Timberlake has been cast in the lead role in a film about Facebook called The Social Network.  Timberlake will play Sean Parker, co-founder of Napster and FB’s first President.  Production for the film begins next month.  Allmusic Blog

- Yesterday was Bruce Springsteen’s 60th birthday.  My dad also turned 60 not too long ago, but Steve Sr. has never had a sliding collision with a Super Bowl Halftime Show stage camera.  Rollingstone

- Rapper Eminem is headed to court against the tech giant Apple Inc in a dispute over download permission on iTunes, despite three separate attempts to broker a settlement between the two parties.  Billboard

Eminem's music publisher looking to peel Apple in court

Apple, Inc. and Eight Mile Style, LLC, which publishes Detroit rapper Eminem’s music, are slated for a federal court trial this morning.

Settlement talks broke down yesterday on Eight Mile’s claim that Apple was not authorized to make 93 of the entertainer’s songs available for downloading on Apple’s iTunes service.

U.S. District Court Judge Anna Diggs Taylor will preside.

More from The Associated Press.

i want it all forever

One thing is for sure, Lebron is the man. Now I don’t know if they are trying to compare Drake to Lebron but the analogy doesn’t work. Drakes story is a pretty crazy one. No record contract but still have a tremendously popular song. Then record companies went nuts. I wouldn’t say he is the Lebron James of hip hop though. Girls just like the chorus’s. It is really good to have Eminem back though isn’t it. Angry white teenagers rejoice. Forever by Drake (feat. Kanye West, Lil Wayne & Eminem)

Ja Rule talks DMX and Eminem, plans to Reunite with Ashanti

Recently, Ja Rule was on his Twitter account discussing his preparation for the 2009 VH1 Hip Hop Honors. The show will honor his former label, Def Jam that is the reason that he is performing at the show. Rule’s “Always on Time,” was the most successful song in Def Jam history.

Also performing at the show will be DMX and Eminem, two of Ja Rule’s most bitter enemies. He talked about this on Twitter earlier. The message stated that he was excited about being on stage with X and Em, but he was obviously being sarcastic. He mentioned that he is coming to have a good time and that he is bringing his daughters. That does not mean that he is not ready, however.

Early last year, a record from Ja Rule called “Judas” was leaked to the internet. The song was perceived as a diss record to Ashanti and DMX. Then, earlier this year, Irv Gotti announced that he was going to drop her from Murder Inc. Records. Despite her issues with Gotti, Ja Rule still maintains that she is like a sister to him.

So, Ja Rule and Ashanti will be at the 2009 VH1 Hip Hop Honors and they will perform “Always on Time” and “Down 4 U.”

Drake ft Kanye West, Lil Wayne & Eminem-"Forever"

The music video for “Forever” leaked today. You probably recall hearing verses from Drake, Ye, Lil Wayne and Eminem. Critics are saying this is set to be one of the best collabs to date, and has created a lot of hype around the song, along with purpose the song is suppose to serve. The video was directed by Hype Williams, and is compiled of all the artist mentioned above. There are also clips from the LeBron James documentary “More Than A Game“, which is set to release Oct.2,2009. This is just one of the songs off the soundtrack, which means it only gets better from here.

Eminem’s Acceptance Speech For Best Hip Hop Video- 09 MTV VMA's

Eminem won the MTV Video Music Award for best hip-hop video Sunday night for his song “We Made You.” “Wow. This is crazy,” Eminem said as he took the stage to collect his moon-man trophy. “I want to just say thank you to the fans, first and foremost, for sticking by me this whole time.” Then thanks his team, Peter Rosenberg (Manager/Business Partner), Shady Records, etc.

Eminem then proceeds to dedicate the award to lifetime friend, right hand man, D12 member- Proof, whom was fatally shot back in April of 2006. Eminem’s first performance on MTV, (since Proofs’ passing) wasn’t until earlier this year at The MTV Movie Awards. Kid Cudi’s DJ AM tribute song follows Em’s Acceptance Speech.

Did Mariah Just Call Eminem Petite?

Yes, she did.

While promoting her film Precious at the Toronto International Film Festival Mariah was asked about her “performance as Eminem” in the “Obsessed” video. Mariah responded, “I was not him. That had blonde hair. I wasn’t petite.” I think she just called him “that” too.

In another recent interview on French radio Mariah said, “I don’t know that is,” when asked about Shady.

And Em’s uber gross diss song? “…I don’t know if somebody wants to write their little songs. I haven’t heard them on the radio, I don’t know what’s going on with that,” MC quipped.

I doubt she’ll be asked about Eminem when she appears on Oprah today to show off the fabulous throwback hair, perform, and promote Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.

MTV Video Music Awards highlights and lowlifes

Wow! I just finished watching a truly unique show… Here’s my summary of the 2009 VMA’s

The Good:Madonna’s heartfelt eulogy to Michael Jackson, the amazing dance number in honor of the King of Pop, Katy Perry’s rockin’ version of We Will Rock You, Taylor Swift’s creative performance, MUSE’s cool, electronic performance, Beyonce’s amazing performance, and the preview of the Michael Jackson documentary, This is It. I must also mention the classy and kind-hearted way in which Beyonce let Taylor Swift finish her acceptance speech after she was rudely interrupted by one of Kanye West’s ignorant outbursts.

Madonna, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, and Beyonce

The Bad:Eminem – the sexist, woman-degrading rapper – tried to talk in “ghettospeak”, Green Day performed a song from their new album 21st Century Breakdown that sounded exactly like all of their other punk rock, anti-American music, and few other forgettable numbers.

Eminem & Green Day

The Ugly: Had Kanye West not thrown a tantrum, the amazingly idiotic, British liberal, Russell Brand, would’ve taken the spotlight as the item that ruined the entire show. His rants on sex, politics, and overall “trashiness” prove that he was in fact grown in a petri dish. MTV, please don’t invite this vile human being back to any program ever again. Please keep him in his natural habitat somewhere in an unknown swamp.

Kanye West & Russell Brand

In short, had the last two people mentioned not been a part of the show, it would’ve been excellent.

Taylor Swift & Edward Cullen? not exactly.

Seating Chart pic for Sunday's VMA's

Pics of the seating arrangement for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards are showing that our country teen queen Taylor Swift will be sitting directly in front of Edward Cullen himself, Robert Pattinson.  He’s not alone either.  Edward is sitting next to his Twilight Co-Star Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan) and then in front of Taylor Swift in the next two rows are Eminem and then Lady Gaga.  Crazy Combination!  Let’s just hope that Taylor can walk away with the moonman for  ”best female video” this year!  The awards are handed out at the Radio City Music Hall in NYC on Sunday, Sept 13th at 9pm est, watch em on MTV.
